BLACKJACK : PLAY THE BEST BLACKJACK GAMES FOR REAL MONEY
Sometimes referred to as 21, the game of blackjack is one of the most popular online casino games in existence, probably because it is fast-paced and can yield some big wins for those who are lucky, though many prefer to play free blackjack, just for the fun of it. For the most part, the history of the game is unknown though some say it originated in Spain, a supposition that is based on the fact that it can be found in a novel by famed European novelist, Miguel de Cervantes, the author of the book, Don Quixote.
How to Play Blackjack
The game of online blackjack is played with a traditional 52-card deck and begins with the player and the dealer each receiving two cards. Tens, jacks, queens and kings all have a value of ten, and the ace can be used as either a one or 11. Dealer will always deal themselves the cards with one facing up and the other facing down. The values of the players cards are added together to form a total first. If the player is happy with the total they have, they can choose to “stick”, or not take another card. If they feel their total is too low, they can “hit”. If they choose this option, the dealer will give them another card. Players can hit as many times as they feel they need to, or until they have exceeded a total of 21, that is, they have gone “bust”.
The goal of the game is to get a score higher than that of the dealer, but without exceeding the total of 21, something that is not easy to do unless you are very lucky or have a great Blackjack strategy. Once the player is happy with their total, it is the dealer’s turn. The dealer turns their remaining face down card, face up. Should they have a total that is more than the player’s, they win automatically. Should they have a total that is less than 16, they can hit. If their total is lower than the player’s but more than 16, they have no choice but to stick, in which case the player wins.
Though these are the basics of the game, there are other factors that can influence the outcome of the hand too. For example, players who are initially dealt two of the same card, such as two queens, have the option of splitting. This means they can split their queens and use each one as a separate hand, as long as they add to their bet. They then essentially have two hands they can play, while the dealer only has one. Players who have a total of less than 11 can also choose to double their bet. This means they add to their bet amount, or double it, but they are only allowed to take one more card. If the card happens to be an low-value card, their chances of winning are very slim. Also important to know is that if a player is dealt a “blackjack”, that is, a card with a value of 10 or more plus an ace, they automatically win. If the dealer is dealt an ace or a card with a value of 10 as their face-up card, the player has the option to take out insurance, just in case the dealer has a blackjack. If the player chooses to take up the insurance, they will usually only lose half of their initial bet.
There are many people who play online Blackjack these days with some sort of strategy in mind, but the game is really based on chance. Though you may have a strategy for how you will bet, it is usually almost impossible when playing online to predict the outcome of the cards.
